Back on the Mountain

When I first started on my weight loss journey, I couldn't seem to eat right and work out at the same time. Focusing on both made me go cross eyed! So after a few months of just focusing on my diet, I decided to start hiking Thunderbird Mountain and it became a turning point for me and my weight loss. My whole mentality changed towards the "dieting" process and it truly became about being healthy. It soon got too hot to hike, and my mom and I joined the gym. Which has been great, but I have been itching to get back on the mountain. Well, today I did it! It felt so good to be out there again! I am going to try to make it my Saturday morning ritual, and maybe it is just what I need to get me back on track!

Twilight the Movie

So I was taking a little break from studying for my test today and there was a trailer for the movie. I clicked, I watched, I got chills and was flooded with memories of the books. I absolutely loved these books. I think I went through them faster than when I read Harry Potter. It reminds me of when I was in sixth grade and my English teacher told me that I had to choose an author other than L.M Montgomery by the time I was on the 4th book of the "Anne of Green Gables" series. I tend to find an author and stick with them and forget to branch out. The sad part...I have the entire series and still haven't finished it...dang Mr. Hunt! So for anyone who wants a fun read and some romance, I highly recommend Stephanie Meyer. Besides, it'll make your husbands jealous! Which is always fun!

Ahhh Success...almost

At least we are getting closer! Friday night we went out to speedworld to run the dragster. We have been fighting bugs like most cars do...fuel curves, timing, burning out starters....you get the hint. Up until Friday night we hadn't been so successful out at the track. Dave and his brother Paul spent a good portion of an afternoon "tweeking" thing and we think we finally know where to go from here! Yippee! We are pretty positive that once we figure out what the engine wants, we can get into the 7 second range. But for now Dave is having fun in the 8's. We were driving home from dropping the dragster off and Dave turns to me and said, "everything just seems to be going by so slow!" I can only image!

Those of us that weren't getting our hands grubby and greasy like our nephew Quinn who is always such a big help with the car....

Were enjoying some nice hot chili cheese nachos!

He Shoots, He Scores, Hey Goalie! You Suck!

On Thursday I got to experience my very first hockey game. Dave was able to get some free tickets from work. The seats were incredible.

It was a great game. I have decided that hockey fans are definitely a different breed. I felt bad that I wasn't wearing a jersey. It took about oh 5 seconds before the checking started and only 2 major brawls tried to get started. The second one was my favorite. If you look closely you can see the little kid sticking his tongue out at one of the Capitals players....brave kid!
After some close calls the Coyotes won!

and Dave was happy...as was I!

I'll Repent...

I got an email this afternoon from the GCC Nursing department. They entered my application into the system. There were eleven of us whose applications got entered...so now I can try to keep track and hope that I can get in sometime within a year!

2179

So last Wednesday I finally got my application in for nursing school! I was so excited and then very depressed. 2179 was where the wait list was at when I turned in my application. They just did placements for Spring '09 which dropped the wait list to a whopping 1793! Are you kidding me. Only 386 students made placement into block 1. I haven't gotten to the really depressing part. Even though I turned my application in...I won't get entered into the system until November 30th! And it gets a "random" date/time stamp...I guess as long as someone who turned their application in after me doesn't "randomly" get selected before me, I'm ok, not that I would know. But does anyone else find this system extremely messed up and inefficient?

I also know that I should be all warm and fuzzy inside, I mean I have FINALLY made it to this point...it is just so bitter sweet!

Because Dave said I could....

If he ever dies in a fiery car crash I am allowed to marry Christian Bale! And I am not just a "Batman" fan....He won my heart the first time I saw Newsies.

1800

At last check that is what the wait list was up to for nursing school. I know I should go take my NET exam, but I really want to get through Microbiology first. Excuses, excuses...they are my middle name and I'm sure procrastination is in there somewhere as well...if that one wasn't already obvious! Well the monsoon season hit two weeks ago and Dave got caught in it coming home from school. His poor baby hit a manhole and took out his oil pan and rim and tire. The picture is after the fireman put the cover back in the hole....oops!

the flares were a nice touch....they just happened to be a day late and a dollar short!

In Memory of Gram

When Dave's "Gram" past away, he inherited her S-10 Blazer. We had a lot of fun memories of that truck and it served us well, but the time came to trade it in and get something more mechanically sound as well as fuel efficient. In the Blazer Gram had put what I call Mr. Fuzzyhead and the rest of the family calls a weeble on the dashboard. We made sure that we transferred Mr. Fuzzyhead to the new car and immediate felt that Gram approved of the purchase and that she is still being a backseat driver with us. We miss you Gram, but Thank you!

1499...

That is the amount of people who have an application in and accepted waiting for a spot into the nursing program with only 498 spots available per semester...yeah, this could take awhile. I am still waiting for my fingerprints to come back and then I will take the NET exam, and then I can turn my application in...I wonder what number it will be up to by then? I just need to be glad that I am done staring and tearing apart dead cats! YIPEEE!!!

Procrastination

I have my last test for Anatomy and Physiology on Tuesday and I have so far been very successful at not studying for it today. I did put in a good amount of time yesterday and was able to get through the respiratory and urinary systems...unfortunately I still have the male and female reproductive systems to go. Instead I have been helping Dave search for a new car. He was going to wait until he graduated in two years and gift himself a Chevy Volt.

He is trying to be environmental. Unfortunately he drives an hour to and from work in a vehicle that only gets 16 mpg. The bug has bitten and he is trying to figure out if he should get an Aveo or an SS Colbalt. My vote is for the Aveo now and then once the degree is in hand step up...but do men ever listen to their wives??? We shall see, and I need to study. I am hoping that since I am taking the summer off that I can be a better blogger and that it doesn't take me almost a year to post again!!!
